1.0 Building Digital Bangladesh With the aim of making the country a knowledge-based society and a middle-income country by 2021, the government established the Department of Information and Communication Technology under the Ministry of Science and Information and Communication Technology in 2011. Information and Communication Technology Department was formed under the restructured Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology in 2014 with the aim of speeding up the development of information technology and smooth coordination of work. This department is implementing various projects and programs with the aim of creating employment opportunities by creating skilled human resources in the ICT sector, developing infrastructure, establishing connectivity, developing ICT industry and innovating new services and expanding ICT education.
1.1 Directorate of Information and Communication Technology has been established with a total of 756 posts including 564 technical posts in 2013 with the aim of delivering the citizen services of the Information and Communication Technology Department to the field level. Last 14 July 2015, 200 (twenty two) manpower with technical knowledge has been posted in different districts and upazilas. 1112 more manpower structure has been approved and recruitment process is going on. Once this recruitment process is completed, it will be easier for the government to provide ICT related services at the field level. This will make it easier to provide hassle free services to the public.
1.2 Development of National Infra-Network for Bangladesh Government (BanglaGovNet) project through 58 Ministries/Departments, 227 Departments/Departments, 64 Districts and 64 Upazila level offices with network connectivity to various important government facilities in Dhaka: 43 km: Optical fiber laying has been completed. In continuation of the BanglaGovnet project, the work of connecting 18453 government offices located in 64 districts and 488 upazilas under the same network has been completed through the Info-sarker-II project. Using this network, Video Conferencing System has been launched at 800 important places in the district and upazila.
